DI Process illustrationWater Deionisation is a chemical process which uses specially manufactured ion-exchange resins which exchange hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions for dissolved minerals. Deionisation functions by exchanging hydrogen ions for cationic contaminants and hydroxyl ions for anionic contaminants in the feed water. The ion exchange resin beds are made up of tiny resin beads through which the water passes. After a period of time, cations and anions will have replaced all the hydrogen and hydroxyl in the resins and the resin media has to be replaced.
 
Deionised Water is defined by Internationally recognised water quality standards of different types of DI water quality starting with Type I through to Type III. Type I is the highest quality usually used for laboratories, medical, pathologies, pharmaceuticals, Type III is the lowest quality – DI Water Classifications
 
DI Water Systems For Lab useOne hundred per cent pure water consists solely of water molecules in equilibrium with hydroxyl and hydrogen ions. This composition gives a characteristic electrical resistivity of 18.2 megohm.cm. This means that type I ultrapure water is at least 99.99999975 % pure.
Water of this quality is used with the most sensitive laboratory analytical instruments, which are designed to detect chemicals at extremely low concentration levels.
Deionisation is an on-demand process of supplying purified water only when needed, because water at this extreme purity level degrades quickly.
 
Mixed Bed DI Resin can produce the highest quality of deionised water possible, however, feeding untreated tap water into a Resin DI Filter can be an expensive option and may not produce the water quality required.
 
In order to obtain the purest quality deionised water, a multi-stage  reverse osmosis system should be used before the water is filtered through the deionisation medium. While the reverse osmosis system removes most of the impurities the Resin DI Filter removes the rest of the ions in the water.

The use of stand alone DI Resin Filters may not provide satisfactory water quality results without the use of Reverse Osmosis Technology in combination.

DI Water Monitor for Purion DI FilterHy-Lite resistivity indicator incorporates Auto Temperature Compensation and Surface Mount Technology circuitry for accuracy unequalled by other pure water “quality lights”. Proper TC design is especially important in high purity applications because the effect of temperature on resistivity/conductivity values varies significantly with purity level. For increased accuracy, the Hy-Lite ATC has been range-tuned to the appropriate TC factor for the particular set- point resistivity. DI WATER SYSTEMS FOR INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS
Our industrial and commercial DI Systems are used for laboratory DI water and other industries such as the powder coating industry.
The powder coating industry demands a high volume of purified water to support production. Finishers use purified water to clean and rinse parts.
Powder coating adhesion can be significantly impeded when dissolved solids are trapped between the metal surface and the layer of paint. To ensure a high quality finish, deionised water is used in the final rinse stage before drying and powder coating.

The APT Aqua Pure RO4-DI initially removes 95% to 99% of all chemicals before two nuclear grade resin DI Filters remove the remaining 1-5% of contaminants.
DI Water production 8 litres per hour.
The APT Aqua Pure RO4-DI System provides Ultra Pure, type 1 Water at a fractional cost of using only DI Resin Filters.
Available with 2 DI filters, 2 membranes & larger tanks. Up to 500 litres per day. Standard Tank seize is 12 litres.
